Community Involvement

The Sojourner is proud to support the Lambertville/New Hope community in a variety of ways large and small. Involvement ranges from annual donations to local civic organizations like the rescue squad, historical society, and Kalmia Club to chairing a local scholarship.

Amy’s involvement with the Shad Fest dates back to 1990, when she joined the Lambertville Area Chamber of Commerce. She has twice served as president of that organization and currently serves as the President of the Chamber’s charity arm, The Delaware River Town Charities. Each year Amy, along with 100s of talented volunteers, organizes and executes the annual Shad Fest Poster Auction. The proceeds from the auction fund two scholarships for local art students valued at $25,000 each. A graduating high school senior from Lambertville and another from New Hope are chosen each year to receive this scholarship. The student must attend a four year college and major in the fine, performing, or culinary arts. If you know someone who qualifies, you can find out more at shadfestposters.org

Amy has served on the Jim Hamilton Memorial Shad Fest Scholarship committee since 1997 in various capacities. She is willing to do just about anything to raise money for the scholarship including wearing a silly costume each year to entice patrons to bid higher at the auction.
