Long worn as a protective amulet, figures of Medusa date back to ancient times. It was once thought that a glance from Medusa could turn a human to stone. This pendant may not do that, but it will turn some heads. A finely wrought head of Medusa is surrounded by extraordinarily detailed serpents. The snakes are depicted on both the front and the back of the pendant. The detail even extends to the bail, which is also a snake. The bail is generous in size so the pendant can be worn on a chain or cord. The pendant is completely hand-made from sterling silver by craftsmen in Istanbul, Turkey. At 32.5 grams this piece is a nice piece of silver. It is 1 3/4 from bail to bottom and 1 1/2 inches wide. Also available in a smaller size.
