Chinese dresser"Furnishings are so much fun to buy," says Amy, "and I can't resist a bargain." Sojourner's furnishings collection is whimsical and ever changing.

"Every time I find something I want for my home," says Amy, "I buy enough so that I can sell them in the store, too." When Amy found great little lamps in Turkey she brought thirty home. The same thing happened with the handmade shell tableware Sojourner sells.

The Chinese dressing table pictured here is one of two great pieces of Chinese furniture we currently have. It is from the early 19th century, made after the Europeans began to influence Chinese furniture design. The piece is filled with interesting carved animals, which all have specific symbolism. The rats are associated with the amassing of money. The foo dogs are symbols of valor and energy. They are also guardians.

The furniture for sale at Sojourner ranges from chests to cupboards to tables. You never know what Amy will have brought home from abroad, so stop in and see.
